Founding Pilot · First 10 Family Assessments

The right technology should make caregiving easier, not create another job.

The RAFTECH.ORG Two-Person Technology Fit Assessment™ looks at the older adult and the caregiver together, then helps you decide what technology is worth using, what needs support, and what may add more complexity than value.

Founding Pilot: $249 Planned standard price: $349 · Virtual assessment
Two-person lensWe evaluate the older adult and caregiver as one support system.
Independent guidanceThe goal is fit and clarity, not filling the home with gadgets.
Written planYou leave with prioritized recommendations and next steps.
RAFTECH.ORG Verified™Recommendations are tested for burden, usability, fallback and fit.
A better question than “What should we buy?”

Will this technology actually work for both people?

Care recipientDoes it preserve independence, dignity, choice and usable access?
CaregiverDoes it reduce repeated checking, remembering, travel, stress or physical strain?
UsabilityCan both people realistically learn and use it?
FallbackWhat happens during an outage, missed alert or caregiver absence?
PrivacyDoes monitoring respect consent and household boundaries?
ValueIs the solution worth its cost, maintenance and subscription burden?
Good aging-in-place technology should quietly give something back: less strain, fewer things to remember, fewer unnecessary checks, or greater confidence that help is available.

You do not need another list of gadgets

Families are often told to buy a fall detector, camera, medication device, smart speaker, monitoring service or another app. The harder question is whether that technology fits the people who must live with it every day.

A device can look excellent on paper and still fail because someone will not wear it, cannot hear the alert, dislikes being monitored, forgets to charge it, struggles with the interface, or because it quietly adds new responsibilities to an already overloaded caregiver.

The RAFTECH.ORG recommendation rule

“Will this technology help the person receiving care while reducing or avoiding burden for the person providing care?”

If we cannot answer both sides convincingly, we reconsider the recommendation.

One care situation, two people to support

The assessment deliberately looks at the needs, limits and preferences on both sides of the caregiving relationship.

Person Receiving Care

Independence that remains practical

  • Daily routines, priorities and independence goals
  • Technology comfort and accessibility needs
  • Privacy, dignity and monitoring boundaries
  • Tasks or situations becoming harder or less safe
  • What happens when help is not immediately nearby
Person Providing Care

Support that remains sustainable

  • Repeated checking, calling and coordination
  • Tasks consuming time, attention, travel or sleep
  • What someone must remember, charge or maintain
  • Alert fatigue and technology-management burden
  • What breaks down if the caregiver becomes unavailable

What your Founding Pilot includes

A focused process designed to move you from “there are too many choices” to a defensible next step.

Before

Structured Intake

We gather the care recipient's priorities, caregiver workload, existing technology, privacy boundaries, budget considerations and known trouble spots before the consultation.

After

Technology Fit Plan

You receive prioritized written findings, recommendations, what we do not recommend when relevant, a 30-day action plan and one 20-minute clarification call.

Powered by RAFTECH.ORG Verified™

A product does not earn a place in the plan simply because it has impressive features.

  • Caregiver burden reduction
  • Learning and usability
  • Reliability and safe fallback
  • Caregiver dependency
  • Caregiver sustainability
  • Privacy, consent and accessibility red flags

The Tomorrow Test

If the primary caregiver could not perform their usual responsibilities tomorrow, what would immediately stop working?

The 3 A.M. Test

Could the people involved successfully use the technology while tired, frightened and without technical assistance?

A high feature count does not rescue a technology that fails either test.

This may be a good fit if…

  • You are helping an older adult remain at home.
  • You are a remote caregiver doing too much repeated checking and coordination.
  • You are considering fall detection, monitoring, medication tools, smart-home devices or caregiver apps.
  • You already bought technology that is not being used consistently.
  • You want fewer, better-fit tools rather than a house full of devices.

Sometimes the answer is “do not buy it”

Technology is not automatically the solution. A good outcome may be simplifying an existing setup, making a home modification, asking another family member or qualified professional to help, choosing a simpler non-digital product, or making no technology change at all.

RAFTECH.ORG's job is to improve the decision, not maximize the number of products in the home.

Common questions

The assessment is designed as independent advisory work. RAFTECH.ORG does not need to sell a device for the assessment to be useful. Material affiliate or commercial relationships relevant to a recommendation should be disclosed.
When the evidence and fit are strong enough, the report may identify product categories and specific candidates. Sometimes the better answer is to modify an existing setup, delay a purchase, or use a simpler non-digital solution.
Whenever practical, yes. The person receiving care should have a voice in decisions affecting privacy, monitoring, routines and independence.
RAFTECH.ORG prepares a concise findings report and 30-day action plan. The Founding Pilot target is delivery within three business days, followed by one 20-minute clarification call.
Yes. With the family's permission, a relevant professional may join or provide context. RAFTECH.ORG's role is to complement, not replace, their professional scope.
No. This is a technology advisory and caregiving decision service. When a clinical, occupational therapy, legal, emergency, contractor or other licensed-professional issue is identified, RAFTECH.ORG will recommend involving the appropriate professional.
